- Set out your ingredients
You will be needing warm water, granulated sugar, yeast, 2 eggs, canola oil, and flour. That's all!
2. Dissolve the yeast and activate by proofing
This step only takes 5 minutes. All you have to due is warm up water enough to dissolve sugar around (105 F). Make sure not to kill the yeast by adding the water too hot. Combine the sugar and water and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Then add the yeast and let sit for 5 minutes (this is proofing). You should be able to see the yeast puff up to cover the surface.
3. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix them together
Add the egg, oil, salt, and flour. Take an electric mixer and mix for about 2 minutes, if mixing by hand it will take longer.
4. Knead the bread
Taking the additional 5 minutes to mix your bread is well worth it in the end as it creates that great texture. This is what allows gluten to form and rise the bread. If kneading by had this process will take about 10 minutes of consistently kneading it.
5. First Rise
Place the bread dough in an oiled bowl and cover with plastic wrap for 15 minutes in a warm area like near the stove. If your house is cool it may take longer.
6. Punch the Dough
Punching the dough makes the dough release the small air pockets and helps have a consistent texture. Place the dough in the oiled pan and bush an egg on top to give it a smooth shiny crust. It will have an amazing flavor in the end.
7. Second Rise
The bread only has 10 minutes to rise place near stove while it preheats.
8. Bake the Bread
You are almost done! This bread takes about 35-40 minutes. The bread temp will be 190-200 degrees F. The top will be golden brown.
9. Cooling the Bread
Let the bread cool in the container it baked so it can maintain its shape. Once it has cooled let it sit for about 20 minutes and do not slice while it is hot the loaf will get crumbly.
